Choose a gaming TV by the exact model, size and region, then map each source to an input mode it can actually use. “HDMI 2.1,” “144Hz,” “QLED” or a series name alone does not establish the complete setup.
This guide uses manufacturer documentation checked on 30 September 2026. Its named examples include older 2023 and 2024 models; they are not a ranking of new 2026 televisions. We have not measured input lag, brightness, reflections, response time, blooming or picture processing. LG currently marks the cited 42-inch C3 US page discontinued, so a documented feature set is not a promise of current stock.
Write the source-to-port plan first
| Source or connection | Record before choosing |
|---|---|
| Console or PC | Exact device, desired resolution/refresh and supported output modes |
| Each game you care about | Its available mode; display refresh does not create extra rendered frames |
| Soundbar or receiver | Audio-return requirements and any video passthrough limits |
| TV input | Which socket supports the intended resolution, refresh, VRR and HDR combination |
| Cable and settings | Required cable type and the manual’s enhanced-input/game-mode settings |
| Other sources | Whether simultaneous connection or occasional cable switching is acceptable |
The TV specifications quoted on this page, such as resolution, refresh rate, HDR support, HDMI ports and panel type, are manufacturer-published figures rather than our own measurements. Confirm the exact model and configuration on the manufacturer’s page before buying.
A receiver between source and TV can add its own limit. Verify the complete path. A high-refresh feature on one input does not mean every port supports every combination, and a device may need different settings for different modes.
Four documented model examples
| Identified model | Published reference | What the reference helps you check |
|---|---|---|
| LG OLED42C3PUA, 42-inch C3 | US identity/status page and same-model Canadian specifications | Exact older model; Canadian documentation lists four inputs supporting 4K120, but use applicable regional instructions for your purchase |
| LG OLED55C4PUA, 55-inch C4 | US model page and LG’s 2024 release | An identified 2024 model with the maker’s 4K144 support statement and its conditions |
| Sony XR-55X90L, 55-inch X90L | Exact-model specifications | Four HDMI inputs, with VRR and ALLM specifically listed for HDMI 3/4; verify the required signal and settings |
| TCL 75Q750G, 75-inch Q7 | Product page and Q750G quick-start guide | 120Hz panel refresh, separately described VRR/Game Accelerator features, and port-specific input-mode tables |
Read the limitations rather than turning a motion-marketing number into the native panel refresh. Higher-refresh modes can have resolution or signal conditions. Likewise, Dolby Vision support for video is not proof of every gaming-mode combination. Check it where it is an actual requirement; it is not mandatory for every gamer.
Sony identifies the cited model as XR-55X90L, not “XBR55X90L.” A family label such as TCL QM8 or Samsung S90D without size, generation and regional suffix is insufficient for a fixed specification table. This guide therefore does not carry forward universal series-wide port counts or unsupported PS5-only winner claims.
Compare the room and mounting requirements
Measure the actual stand footprint, screen width, furniture, mounting compatibility and permitted installation clearance. A diagonal size is not the television’s width or stand spacing. Include delivery access and any required wall-mount equipment in the cost.
Consider where daylight or lamps reflect, seating positions and the content you use. Ask for relevant viewing demonstrations or reliable measurements when those details decide the purchase. This guide has not established that every OLED fails in bright rooms or that every mini-LED handles reflections better. Panel and backlight labels do not measure a complete television’s performance.
Check ownership and the current offer
Read the model’s support, updates, care and warranty information. If static content is a major part of your intended OLED use, inspect its specific panel-care guidance and coverage terms. Neither mixed use nor a competing panel label supplies a universal lifetime guarantee.
Confirm current model, condition, included stand/remote, seller warranty and returns. An older clearance or used TV can be a different decision from a newly released set; compare the complete offer rather than assuming a family name remains the best value.
Search Amazon for OLED42C3PUA , OLED55C4PUA , XR-55X90L or 75Q750G . Search results do not confirm stock or an exact variant.
Buy when the documented input path, room fit and complete current quote satisfy your own requirements. A newer or faster badge adds value only when the system can use it and it addresses a need you have recorded.
